FREE GCSE Science Exam Technique Posters: 7 Command Word Routines for AQA
Seven A3 classroom posters give your students a routine for every kind of exam answer in GCSE science. Each poster shows the steps in large type, so students can read it from their desks.
The routines are:
- Evaluate: fact, reason, judgement
- Describe and explain: what happens with data, then why with 'because'
- PEEL: point, evidence, explain, link, for extended answers
- CIDERM: control, independent, dependent, equipment, repeats, method, for planning a required practical
- EVERY: equation, values, enter, rearrange, your units, for calculations
- DESCU: data, equation, substitute, calculate, units, for calculations
- VARP: valid, accurate, repeatable and reproducible, precise, for judging results
The download also includes an A4 exam routines summary sheet with every routine on one line. Students learn the lines, then jot the letters in the margin of the exam paper before they answer.
The posters use AQA's own vocabulary. VARP uses repeatable and reproducible, the terms AQA now uses in place of 'reliable'.
Each routine has a matching practice pack with worked examples, practice questions and full answers.
