These back to school printables are the seven worth having ready before children walk in. The week before term goes one of two ways. Either you spend it making things, or you spend it in the room actually setting it up. The second is better, and the difference is a printing list.
Here are seven things worth printing before children walk in. Every one of them is in the Back to School Classroom Pack, and every one comes in four different looks, so you pick your theme once and the whole room matches.
1. A welcome banner for the door
The first thing anyone sees is the door. A banner with your class on it tells children they are in the right place, and tells parents at the gate that somebody was expecting them.

2. Name tags for desks and trays
Eight tags to a sheet, each one with a line to write on. Type your class list in, print and cut, and you will not spend the first hour telling thirty children where to put their coat.
They do the same job for trays, pegs, book boxes and drawers.
3. A class register
Twenty four pupils down the side, Monday to Friday across the top, and a notes column on the right. You will be given a system, and you will still want paper for the first fortnight while you learn the names.

4. A weekly timetable
Time down the left, Monday to Friday across the top. Print one for your desk, one for the wall the class can read, and a spare for the cover folder.

5. Today's agenda
Six lines for the order of the day and a box for the date. Fill it in before they come in and you stop answering what is next forty times a week.
Laminate one and it will do the whole year with a whiteboard pen.

6. A lesson plan for the first week
Date and subject at the top, then learning objective and success criteria side by side, a starter, a large box for main activities, and differentiation, assessment and resources across the bottom. The headings your school already asks for.

7. A KWL chart for the first topic
What I know, what I wonder, what I learned, in three ruled columns so children write in sentences rather than single words. Start the topic with it and finish the topic with it.
The eighth sheet, for the term rather than the first day
The curriculum map is not a print before the bell job. It is laid out by term, with columns for topic, key questions, skills, assessment and resources, so a whole year goes on one page you can hand to a subject lead. Do it in the same sitting and the planning is off your desk.
Print them in one go
