AQA GCSE Combined Science Physics P7 Magnetism and Electromagnetism | 4 Lesson Presentations and Topic Test
AQA GCSE Combined Science Physics P7 Magnetism and Electromagnetism: 4 lessons ready to teach, with a topic test
This is the Combined Science Trilogy version of P7 Magnetism and Electromagnetism, matched to the AQA 8464 specification. You get 4 teaching lessons, all planned and ready to teach in editable PowerPoint.
What your classes work through
- Magnetic poles, forces and induced magnets. Pupils take forces at 1.0 cm and 4.0 cm from a graph for two repelling north poles and find the decrease and its mean rate.
- Magnetic Fields. Pupils use the Earth's own magnetic field to explain a lone compass needle pointing north, and say what this reveals about the core.
- Electromagnetism: Fields From Currents. Pupils connect concentric circles to a straight wire, a strong uniform field to a solenoid's interior and extra strength to an iron core.
- The Motor Effect and Electric Motors. Pupils find B by dividing 0.12 N by the product of 4.0 A and 0.050 m, converting the wire length into metres first.
Who it is for
Use it for AQA GCSE Combined Science Trilogy P7 Magnetism and Electromagnetism lessons on magnetic poles, induced magnets, magnetic fields, solenoids, electromagnets and the motor effect. It also suits Combined Science Physics revision for Year 10 and Year 11.
How each lesson runs
Each P7 Magnetism and Electromagnetism lesson starts with a Do Now that recalls earlier learning, with the answers on the next slide. It then moves through I Do, We Do and You Do, with a model answer after each task. It finishes with the AQA-style question listed above, its mark scheme and an exit ticket. A specification slide names the AQA points the lesson covers, so you can check it against your scheme of work.
Topic test
The P7 Magnetism and Electromagnetism topic test covers the whole unit with AQA-style questions and comes with its mark scheme, both in Word and PDF.
